Maida Vale
Little Venice

The Maida Vale and Little Venice area is one of contrasting styles and prices, giving rise to a varied and vibrant population, with houses popular with professionals working in the City, larger flats with access to gardens being sought after by families and mansion flats being an option for sharers.

The Little Venice area in particular is highly sought after, with many enjoying views over the canal or communal green spaces. Creative types from the music and media industries are attracted to the area, and the properties tend to stay in the family for generations.

World famous Abbey Road studios, where the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Sting, U2 and countless other legends of music have recorded, is just a short walk away from the iconic BBC Maida Vale studios, where artists including Jimi Hendrix and David Bowie performed. Perhaps these studios are part of the attraction for not just musicians and artists to the area but visitors too, as the famous Beatles’ zebra crossing photo is recreated by tourists every day.

BBC Maida Vale Studios on Delaware Road, W9 hosts orchestras and other BBC radio shows as well as the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

Maida Vale has been used as a filming location for Paddington (2014), the Mummy (2017) where Tom Cruise was shot in the Warrington Pub. Notable people from Maida Vale include, Alan Turing, the famous code breaker, Björk who lived in the area in the 1990’s as well as Bradley Wiggins, the renowned cyclist and lastly, for all those Star Wars fans, Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the recent Star Wars trilogy.

Transport

With Regent’s Park and Paddington station just a short walk away, Maida Vale and Little Venice are perfect for a stroll on foot. The tube station is on the Bakerloo line, so a journey to Oxford Circus or Waterloo only takes around 15 minutes. Paddington Station is a mile away which gives wider access nationally. Crossrail will be arriving soon too, which is encouraging further investment and development as the area becomes even better connected!

Walking along the Regent’s Canal, it’s a short walk to ZSL London Zoo and onto Camden Lock for the famous Market.

Education

From nursery to secondary there are many great schools in the area. At a primary level, St Joseph’s RC Primary School, St Mary Magdalene C of E Primary School and Essendine Primary School all have good or outstanding OFSTED reports. For secondary options, Westminster Academy, St George’s Catholic School, Paddington Academy are popular choices.
